Last Call for Tree Site Suggestions

To mark Kirkland's centennial, the City Council plans to give Norkirk a gift of six or eight new street trees.

The gift trees may go into rights-of-way (parking strips) or parks. If a tree is to be planted in a right-of-way, the owner of the adjacent property will have to give approval and commit to taking care of the tree. We may choose from a list of beautiful species with year-round interest.

For a list of sites recommended by Public Works, see  http://norkirk.org/trees-from-city.htm. To express a preference or suggest a site, please contact Mary Redmayne by October 5 at 739.9663 or mary_redmayne@hotmail.com.

Renewed call for resident action

Norkirk Comprehensive Plan

Reaches Turning Point

In a milestone decision, the City Council on September 20 unanimously rejected several controversial rezoning proposals that would have increased residential density in selected areas of Norkirk.

At the same time, the Council gave the Planning Commission permission to study prevailing land use in Norkirk and make recommendations for future land use, including possible zoning changes, as part of the continuing project to update the Comprehensive Plan for the neighborhood.

In addition, the Council directed the Planning Commission to work with residents to define a vision for Norkirk.

The Norkirk Neighborhood Association (NNA) will work to bring about a consensus among residents on direction for the neighborhood, and ensure an active role for residents in the completion of the Comprehensive Plan.

You can be part of this project to shape the future of your neighborhood. The board invites and urges you to participate.

§         Attend regular Association meetings the first Wednesday of every even-numbered month, 7 p.m., Heritage Hall.

§         Sign up to receive NNA emails by writing to norkirk-web@norkirk.org.

We won't use your information for any other purpose.

§         Get in touch with an NNA board member if you'd like to put special effort into the Comprehensive Plan process.

§         Request the City's email updates on the Comp Plan process at:
